Flowing from the Matawe mountains south towards the Middle Sea, the Hiperu is the lifeline of Mahat.

History

It's unknown how long people have lived along the shores of the Hiperu, but most agree there must have been a presence for thousands of years before Neema united the Sea and Lake Mahat.

Wildlife

The Hiperu is well known for its fish and birds, including the famed ibis, but also for the far more dangerous crocodiles and hippopotamus.

In Religion

The Hiperu plays itself out in several myths and legends in Mahat, including the story of a Paref who threw a spear at the Hiperu in anger, and as punishment was struck blind for ten years.

Djekuna is the river personified as a god.
